Hanukkah YES HE DID REPROVE THEM
Originally Authored by Bea Newman
Yahusha HaMashiach did reprove them and their festival!
Remember, Chapters and verse numbering were inserted by man. When we read in full context it reads like a single scroll and not a book with various chapters and verses that have breaks in it.
John 8-10 tells of Him starting to walk inside the Temple and midway in Chapter 10 He is on Solomonโs porch . He was there at the dawn, chapter 8 verse 2 at sunset He was on Solomonโs porch chapter 10 verse 22 (at that time).
You can follow His steps and His words all the way through the Temple until He is at Jordan at the end of John 10 for the full picture.
He started in the temple in John 8:2.
And at dawn He came again into the Set-apart Place, and all the people were coming to Him. And having sat down, He was teaching them. Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:2
Then He reproved them in verse 9.
And when they heard it, being reproved by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning from the older ones until the last. And ืืืืฉืข was left alone, and the woman standing in the middle. Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:9
and in verse 12 tells the sinner He is the LIGHT of the world,
Therefore ืืืืฉืข spoke to them again, saying, โI am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall by no means walk in darkness, but possess the light of life.โ Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:12
He was proclaiming Himself and not the Pharisees that Isaiah (ch 29) rightly prophesied about
Woe to Ariโฤl, to Ariโฤl, the city where Dawiแธ dwelt! Add year to year, let festivals come around. โAnd I shall distress Ariโฤl, and there shall be mourning and sorrow, and it shall be to Me as Ariโฤl. โAnd I shall encamp against you all around, I shall lay siege against you with a mound, and I shall raise siege-works against you.
โAnd you shall be brought low and speak out of the ground, and your speech shall be low, out of the dust. And your voice shall be like a mediumโs, out of the ground, and your speech whisper out of the dust.
โBut the crowd of those strange to you shall be like fine dust, and the crowd of the ruthless ones as chaff blowing away. And it shall be in an instant, suddenly!โ
You shall be visited by ืืืื of hosts with thunder and earthquake and great noise, with whirlwind and storm, and flame of devouring fire.
Then the crowd of all the nations who fight against Ariโฤl, even all who fight against her and her stronghold, and distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision. And it shall be as when a hungry man dreams, and see, he eats; but he awakes, and his being is empty; or as when a thirsty man dreams, and see, he drinks; but he awakes, and see, he is faint, and his being is longing.
Thus shall the crowd of all the nations be who fight against Mount Tsiyon. Pause and wonder! Blind yourselves and be blind! They are drunk, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink. For ืืืื has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes, the prophets. And He has covered your heads, the seers. And the entire vision is to you like the words of a book that is sealed, which men give to one who knows books, saying, โRead this, please.โ And he said, โI am unable, for it is sealed.โ
And the book is given to one who does not know books, saying, โRead this, please.โ And he said, โI have not known books.โ And ืืืื says,
โBecause this people has drawn near with its mouth, and with its lips they have esteemed Me, and it has kept its heart far from Me, and their fear of Me has become a command of men that is taught! โTherefore, see, I am again doing a marvellous work among this people, a marvellous work and a wonder. And the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their clever men shall be hidden.โ
Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from ืืืื, and their works are in the dark; they say, โWho sees us?โ and, โWho knows us?โ
How perverse of you! Should the potter be reckoned as the clay? Should what is made say of its Maker, โHe did not make meโ? And what is formed say of Him who formed it, โHe did not understandโ? Is it not yet a little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into garden land, and garden land be reckoned as a forest? And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of gloom, and out of darkness. And the meek ones shall increase their joy in ืืืื, and the poor among men rejoice in the Set-apart One of Yisraโฤl.
For the ruthless one is brought to naught, the scorner is consumed, and all who watch for evil shall be cut off, those who make a man to sin in word, and lay a snare for him who reproves in the gate, and turn aside the righteous with empty reasoning .
Therefore thus said ืืืื, who ransomed Aแธraham, concerning the house of Yaโaqoแธ, โYaโaqoแธ is no longer put to shame, no longer does his face grow pale. โFor when he sees his children, the work of My hands, in his midst, they shall set apart My Name, and set apart the Set-apart One of Yaโaqoแธ, and fear the Elohim of Yisraโฤl.
โAnd those who went astray in spirit shall come to understanding, and the grumblers accept instruction.โ Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 29:1-24
He continued to pretty much proclaim they were false, they are thieves, hirelings, and wolves. So yes He does reprove them many times.
In John 8:19-24 He is in the treasury. This is right inside of the gate. After they accuse Him of being false He reproved them by saying they did not know Him and that they will die in their sin!
Catch that โTHEY WILL DIE IN >THEIR SIN<โ.
Therefore they said to Him, โWhere is Your Father?โ ืืืืฉืข answered, โYou know neither Me nor My Father. If you knew Me, you would have known My Father also.โ These words ืืืืฉืข spoke in the treasury, teaching in the Set-apart Place. And no one laid hands on Him, because His hour had not yet come.
Therefore ืืืืฉืข said to them again, โI am going away, and you shall seek Me, and you shall die in your sin. Where I go you are unable to come.โ
Then the Yehuแธim said, โShall He kill Himself, because He says, โWhere I go you are unable to comeโ?โ And He said to them, โYou are from below, I am from above. You are of this world, I am not of this world. โTherefore I said to you that you shall die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I am He, you shall die in your sins.โ Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:19-24
He continues and tells them: โYou are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you wish to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has not stood in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it. โAnd because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me. Who of you proves Me wrong concerning sin? And if I speak the truth, why do you not believe Me?โ He who is of Elohim hears the Words of Elohim, therefore you do not hear because you are not of Elohim. Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:44-47
In verse 59 they want to stone Him and He leaves the inside of the โset apart placeโ.
Therefore they picked up stones to throw at Him, but ืืืืฉืข was hidden and went out of the Set-apart Place, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. Yoแธฅanan (John) 8:59
In ch 9:1 we see as He was exiting the Temple he seen a blind man. This blind man and all unclean Jews and gentiles would be outside the GATE (same place where peter healed the lame man). Outside the GATE is the outer court. And Solomonโs porch.
And passing by, He saw a man, blind from birth. Yoแธฅanan (John) 9:1
John 9:4 & 5 He plainly states it is day and when night comes (Hanukkah) He will not be able to work.
โIt is necessary for Me to work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day โ night is coming, when no one is able to work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.โ Yoแธฅanan (John) 9:4,5
Why did He say this? One reason is the LIGHT of the menorah was lit during the day. This is why we will find Him at Jordan where they believe at night in John 10:39-42.
Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, but He went forth out of their hand, and went once more to the other side of the Yardฤn to the place where Yoแธฅanan was immersing at first, and there He stayed. And many came to Him and said, โYoแธฅanan indeed did no sign, yet all that Yoแธฅanan said about this Man was true.โ And many believed in Him there. Yoแธฅanan (John) 10:39-42
This is crucial to understand. He was repeatedly saying He was the true light and not their false light that was lit at night. The new testament teaches this and so does the old testament. Things done at night was from children of darkness NOT children of light. He proclaimed in John 9:5 that the whole time He is in the world He is the light.
Not on โtheirโ festival day of Hanukkah. In fact you will notice He didnโt say He was the LIGHT on this day but He proclaimed, in John 10, that He was the gate and those there celebrating the false light were not His sheep. They had not โentered The gate/doorโ of the true Temple.
Going on in John 9 the blind guy was a testimony of Yahusha that they rejected. They threw him out of the temple. This would be where the unclean Yahudim go, the outer court. Yahusha hears about it so obviously He too is in the outer court. Yahusha finds him and this man believes while itโs day at the Temple.
The Pharisees hear what Yahusha said as follows:
And ืืืืฉืข said, >>โFor judgment I have come into this world, <<that those not seeing might see, and those seeing might become blind.โ And those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, โAre we blind, too?โ ืืืืฉืข said to them, >>โIf you were blind, you would have no sin, but now you say, โWe see,โ therefore your sin remains.<< Yoแธฅanan (John) 9:39-41
For judgement He came. He heard every matter and every unrighteous ruling in that temple. And He warned them continually that their sin remains and that they would die in their sin. To say He did not reprove them is to say you see but remain blind just like the Pharisees.
He continues to speak to those there in John 10:1.
โTruly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. Yoแธฅanan (John) 10:1
This proves we are still in this same time but He continues to teach in the outer court by the gate.
John 10:1-21 then the sun sets and it is the festival of the Yahudim. (This is there to show a time line).
โTruly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter through the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber. โBut he who enters through the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
โThe doorkeeper opens for him, and the sheep hear his voice. And he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
โAnd when he has brought out his own sheep, he goes before them. And the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
โAnd they shall by no means follow a stranger, but shall flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.โ ืืืืฉืข used this figure of speech, but they did not know what He had been saying to them. ืืืืฉืข therefore said to them again, โTruly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. โAll who came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. โI am the door.
Whoever enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and find pasture.
โThe thief does not come except to steal, and to slaughter, and to destroy. I have come that they might possess life, and that they might possess it beyond measure.
โI am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
โBut the hireling, and not being a shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees. And the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them.
โNow the hireling flees because he is a hireling and is not concerned about the sheep.
โI am the good shepherd. And I know Mine, and Mine know Me, even as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father. And I lay down My life for the sheep.
โAnd other sheep I have which are not of this fold โ I have to bring them as well, and they shall hear My voice, and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
โBecause of this the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life, in order to receive it again.
โNo one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to receive it again. This command I have received from My Father.โ
Again there came a division among the Yahuแธim because of these words, and many of them said,
โHe has a demon and is mad, why do you listen to Him?โ Others said, โThese are not the words of one possessed by a demon. Is a demon able to open the eyes of the blind?โ Yoแธฅanan (John) 10:1-21
Verse 23 he is walking on Solomonโs porch. This is in front of the outer court and the gate, at sunset He is not โin the templeโ but where Solomon would have issued judgement and right ruling. There, on Solomonโs porch He tells them they are not His sheep. So very profound when you read everything leading up to this!
At that time the Hanukkah came to be in Yerushalayim, and it was winter. And ืืืืฉืข was walking in the Set-apart Place, in the porch of Shelomoh. Yoแธฅanan (John) 10:22,23
Verse 26-31 And they try to stone Him again. Which is unrighteously judging by the way according to Torah.
โBut you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. โMy sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
โAnd I give them everlasting life, and they shall by no means ever perish, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.
โMy Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. And no one is able to snatch them out of My Fatherโs hand.
โI and My Father are one.โ
Again the Yahuแธim picked up stones to stone Him. Yoแธฅanan (John) 10:26-31
He is not there for โtheir festivalsโ. He did not proclaim He was the LIGHT on โtheir festivalโ.
The true light is seen by those who enter the gate, Him, and they were not His sheep. They had not entered! Then He goes to Jordan where John immersed those who โfollowedโ the Shepherd and believed โinโ Him there! John 10:39-42.
