Getting Egypt Out of Us
TOM HAEG
Yahuah delivered Yasharal from slavery, but even after crossing the Red Sea, Egypt still lived in their hearts. They complained, rebelled, and even wanted to go back (Exodus 16:3, Numbers 14:4). Physical freedom is one thing, but true freedom comes when we surrender our ways and fully walk in His.
Yahusha didn’t just save us from something—He saved us for something: to be a Set-Apart (holy) people, set apart by obedience to His Torah. Many want the salvation part, but what about the obedience part?
“Now if you listen obediently to My voice and keep My covenant, then you will be My own treasure from among all people, for all the earth is Mine.” (Exodus 19:5)
Yasharal was called out of Egypt to serve Yahuah (Exodus 7:16), just as we are called out of the world to walk in His ways. But do we? Or do we, like Yasharal, still cling to the world’s ways?
Yahusha said:
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
Obedience isn’t legalism—it’s love in action. It’s how we show Yahuah that we truly belong to Him. Keeping His Sabbath, honoring His moedim, eating as He commands, loving as He loves—these aren’t burdens; they’re blessings. They shape us into a people who reflect His holiness.
James reminds us:
“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding yourselves.” (James 1:22)
Let’s not just come out of Egypt—let’s get Egypt out of us by walking in Yahuah’s ways, keeping His commands, and living as the set-apart people He has called us to be.
“Blessed are those who do His commandments, so they may have the right to the Tree of Life and may enter through the gates into the city.” (Revelation 22:14)
